By day Mike is usually asleep and by night is a Shift Leader at a local Steel Foundry on Teesside where he’s worked for the past 25 years, and me, Claire, well you’ll find me most days trekking the local beauty spots of Norton where we live, usually with a few dogs in tow and not just our own dogs, Tai and Elsie. I gave up my desk job as an Assistant Accountant 7 years ago to become a dog walker and home boarder, and I love it.
However, skip back 12 years when we embarked on our journey turning the cutest little, slightly unloved Cottage into what is now our beautiful, cosy, home away from home retreat, where you can enjoy the luxury of modern facilities, yet dwell in its original character and charm.
It hasn’t all been plain sailing, let me tell you.
Like the time we just had started our renovations. As you do, work all week at your day job and DIY all weekend … No … well maybe just us then. We packed up our tools for the weekend, headed home to return the following weekend, you get the picture … only to discover the pipe from the header tank in the loft had been leaking for a week! Soul destroying!
Nevertheless, we fixed it, moved on, and all the blood, sweat and tears (literally) were definitely worth it, as what we have created for our guests is a little piece of heaven!
